Congress Passes Bill to Fund Federal Government into March

Negotiations on healthcare-related policies remain ongoing

On January 18, Congress passed another short-term spending bill, funding the federal government into early March. Unfortunately, the bill only extended healthcare-related policies that were included in the previous funding bill and does not include any new healthcare policies, such as an increase in the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

The previous spending bill funded a subset of federal agencies until January 19 and the remainder through February 2. The new funding bill extends these deadlines to March 1 and March 8, giving Congress additional time to pass legislation to fund the government through the remainder of the 2024 fiscal year. Negotiations on health policy riders continue.

The Network will continue advocating alongside other physician advocacy groups for Congress to include these critical healthcare policies in the next funding bill and to provide long-term stability in the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
