Texas Oncology Hosts Congressman Keith Self (R-TX)

On Monday, July 24 Texas Oncology hosted Congressman Keith Self (R-TX) for a site visit at their McKinney location outside of Dallas, Texas. Led by Dr. Anand Shivnani and director of practice operation Melissa Rich, Representative Self was able to learn about the suite of services offered in the McKinney area.

Congressman Self was able to meet with several staff and patients to gain a better understanding of the community oncology care being delivered. He learned about the difference between the hospital and community setting and the various benefits of getting care at Texas Oncology. During the visit, Congressman Self learned about consolidation pressures from hospitals and Texas Oncology’s continued work in value-based payment models.

Congressman Self is a freshman member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and House Committee on Foreign Affairs. The Network and Texas Oncology look forward to working with the Congressman and his staff on issues impacting community oncology care.
