Congressman Vicente Gonzalez visits Texas Oncology

On February 24, 2023, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) representing Texas’ 34th Congressional District, joined leaders of Texas Oncology for a site visit in the heart of Brownsville. Dr. Balesh Sharma, Dr. Debra Patt and Practice Director, Sonia Moran, led a tour of the clinic and spoke with Congressman Gonzlez about issues impacting community oncology, such as Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) oversight, factors driving hospital consolidation and how Texas Oncology and The US Oncology Network is an avid proponent of value-based care as demonstrated by the participation in the Oncology Care Model.

Congressman Gonzalez is a lifetime resident of South Texas. He serves on the House Financial Services and Foreign Affairs Committees. Congressman Gonzalez was an original co-sponsor of H.R. 6101 – Drug Price Transparency in Medicaid Act of 2021, which required pass-through pricing models, and prohibited spread-pricing, for payment arrangements with PBMs under Medicaid.
