Nexus Health Hosts New Mexico Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham
November 25, 2024- The physicians at Nexus Health welcomed New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to their new multispecialty clinic in Santa Fe, which opened earlier this year. During her visit, the Nexus team emphasized the critical need to support local physician practices and clinics like Nexus, which are integral to the state’s healthcare infrastructure. One of the primary goals of the visit was to highlight the essential role that independent community physician practices play in delivering accessible, high-quality healthcare to New Mexicans, especially as the state grapples with challenges in rural healthcare, provider shortages and the high cost of care. While highlighting the many successes and the positive aspects Nexus has brought to the community thus far, they also discussed the many challenges that face independent practices locally.
Governor Lujan Grisham’s extensive background in healthcare makes her visit especially meaningful. As a former Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Health, the governor brings valuable experience and understanding, with the potential to shape smart healthcare policy. The team at Nexus was grateful for Governor Lujan Grisham to take the time to learn about their story, goals and future plans for the practice. They look forward to continuing to work with her and her administration during the 2025 legislative session in New Mexico on policies that positively impact community practices.
