Southern Cancer Center hosts Congressman Jerry Carl (R-AL)

On Thursday, July 6 Southern Cancer Center (SCC) hosted Congressman Jerry Carl (R-AL) for a site visit at their Daphne location. Led by Dr. Brian Heller and Executive Director Lauren Pettis and several staff, Representative Carl was able to learn more about the cancer services being offered in the southern Alabama region.

Congressman Carl was able to meet with several patients and staff members to gain a better understanding of the care being delivered in the community setting. He was especially excited to learn about the Medically Integrated Dispensing (MID) pharmacy and radiation oncology services offered to patients. During the visit Congressman Carl learned about issues impacting the practice such as PBM behavior and hospital consolidation pressures.

Congressman Carl is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and House Committee on Natural Resources. The Network and SCC look forward to working with the Congressman and his staff on these important issues impacting community oncology care.
