Texas Oncology Legislative Day at the Texas State Capitol

On March 8, 2023, Texas Oncology physicians, pharmacists, and leadership arrived at the Texas Capitol to advocate for making patients the focus of public policy. In a series of 52 meetings with Texas lawmakers and staff, these advocates urged state legislators to take action on efforts that reduce barriers to patient care. At the top of the agenda: regulation of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), expanded access to biomarker testing, and efforts to ensure patient well-being. Texas Oncology physicians also encouraged lawmakers to develop a comprehensive policy approach to alleviate the ongoing healthcare staffing shortage and reduce the rate of uninsured patients in Texas.
