Virginia Cancer Specialists Host Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA)
On Thursday, May 4, Virginia Cancer Specialists (VCS) hosted Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) for a site visit at their Gainsville practice. Rep. Wexton was elected to Congress in 2018 and serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee.
VCS is celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year and shared their story of advancing cancer care through a personalized, integrative, 360 degree team approach. Dr. Geoffrey Moore, Dr. Samuel Lee, Dr. Jey Maran, Dr. Robert Marsh along with Practice Manager Shanna Hoosier, Nurse Manager Sofia Huttar, and Executive Director Elise Powers gave the Congresswoman a tour of the facility and educated her on issues impacting community oncology.
During her visit, Rep. Wexton spoke with staff and patients to gain a better distinction between community oncology and hospital health system owned practices. She learned about site-of-service payment disparities, the upcoming enhancing oncology model (EOM), and the value of community oncology.
VCS shared the importance of value-based care and their mission of providing superior value in cancer care. The Network and VCS look forward to working with Rep. Wexton on these important issues impacting community oncology. If you are interested in hosting a site visit, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
