CMMI Announces Updates to EOM and New Cohort Opportunity

On May 30, the CMS Innovation Center announced several updates to the Enhancing Oncology Model (EOM), effective for current EOM participants on January 1, 2025. The updates include:

  • Extending the model by 2 years (from June 30, 2028 to June 30, 2030)
  • Increasing the Monthly Enhancing Oncology Services (MEOS) payment from $70 to $110 ($100 to $140 for dual eligibles)
  • Favorable change to recoupment threshold (increase from 98% of benchmark to 100% of benchmark, beginning for episodes initiating on or after January 1, 2025)

CMS also released a Request for Applications (RFA) to solicit applications for a second cohort of EOM participants. The second cohort will begin participation in EOM on July 1, 2025, and end on June 30, 2030, for a 5-year model performance period. The application portal for interested applicants will be open from July 1, 2024, to September 16, 2024.
